Experience Nazareth beyond the usual tourist path. Engage with locals, uncover the significance behind the architecture and art of the Basilica of the Annunciation, and wander through markets and streets to hidden gems.
Our exploration begins at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, located above the city’s ancient spring. As we journey through the streets and markets, we’ll encounter the Russian complex, the White Mosque, the Synagogue Church, ancient cellars, and 19th-century artistic houses. Finally we arrive at the Basilica of the Annunciation, a marvel of Marian worship and a testament to the feminist movement of the 60s, showcases global Christian community efforts and is adorned with art depicting various Christian faith aspects. We’ll dedicate time to understanding the art and architecture before visiting St. Joseph’s Basilica. After a traditional meal with locals, we’ll drive to Mount Tabor, the site of the Transfiguration, visiting the basilica and surrounding forests to connect with the landscape as it was 2,000 years ago.
