Description

Jerusalem Jewish Day Tour Itineraries

Temple Mysteries

A temple is where chaos transforms into cosmos (order), symbolizing the foundational rock of the world. The construction of the Temple marked the initiation of Jewish ritual, standing as the most magnificent structure of its time, imbued with magic and mysteries.

Our journey begins with an ascent to the Temple Mount, the site of the Jewish Temple for a millennium, now home to the equally impressive Dome of the Rock. We’ll delve into the reasons behind the Temple’s location and its historical impact. Visiting the archaeological excavations at the southern and western walls, we’ll explore models and presentations depicting the Temple in its prime, narrating its history from construction, through various phases, to its eventual destruction.

Continuing to the Jewish Quarter, we’ll visit the Temple Institute, where the Temple’s legacy is revitalized through the recreation of its utensils and garments. Our tour concludes in several synagogues, illustrating how Temple worship persists in Jewish prayer.

The City of David and Mount Zion – Where It All Began

Three thousand years ago, King David Chose Jerusalem as his capital, aiming to establish a permanent abode for God. This decision forever linked the city to his dynasty, the people of Israel, and God, starting from what was then a modest village surrounding the Spring of Shiloh.

Beginning in the Valley of Hinnom, our tour descends to the Pool of Siloam, amidst open fields, evoking the city’s ancient ambiance. After exploring the Pool of Siloam, Hezekiah’s Tunnel, and the archaeological park of the City of David, we’ll head to the Kidron Valley to admire significant mausoleums from the Second Temple period. The journey can continue on foot or by car to nearby Mount Zion, visiting key sites like the Last Supper Room, Dormition Abbey, and King David’s Tomb, capped with a breathtaking view of Jerusalem from Petro’s Galicantu.

Kabbalah Tour

Kabbalah, the Jewish mystical tradition, has deep roots in messianic circles, evolving from secret biblical interpretations and prophetic visions. Jerusalem’s landscape, the Temple’s dimensions, and the narrative of Jewish history in the city all bear the marks of Kabbalistic secrets.

Starting at David’s Citadel for a panoramic city view, we proceed to Christ Church to examine models of the Tabernacle and Temple. Our walk through the Jewish Quarter will introduce us to synagogues and Kabbalistic artists, focusing on three pivotal figures in Jewish mysticism: Nahmanides, who established the Jewish Quarter in the 13th century; the divine Ari, a 16th-century Jerusalem native who shaped modern Kabbalah; and Rabbi Shalom Shaarabi from Yemen, the 18th-century leader of the first Kabbalistic yeshiva.
