Ancient Egypt tour – the Magic of the World

Itinerary
Day 1 | Arrival in Heliopolis
Arriving in Cairo at noon, we’ll head directly to the Al-Masalla obelisk, near the site of the Benben stone, regarded as the world’s center in ancient Heliopolis. We’ll then catch a glimpse of the great pyramids and, if possible, visit the less-known Djedefre Pyramid, the northernmost pyramid in Egypt. These initial stops offer a unique view into ancient Egypt, away from the usual tourist paths. We’ll stay overnight in the Giza area, at Pyramid Park Hotel or a similar establishment.
Day 2 | Giza Pyramids and the Egyptian Museum
The day begins with a detailed tour of the Giza pyramid complex, including the Sphinx and surrounding temples, with a moment for meditation. In the afternoon, we visit the new Egyptian Museum, a treasure trove of Egyptian culture, including Tutankhamun’s artifacts. Time permitting, we’ll also explore the Sun Temple of Abu Ghurab. Overnight stay will be in the Giza area, at the Pyramid Park Hotel or similar.
Day 3 | Saqqara and Dahshur
Our day starts at Saqqara with the Djoser Pyramid, known for royal jubilee celebrations, and visits to significant Old Kingdom tombs, like those of Mereruka and the Pyramid of Unas. In the afternoon, we proceed to Dahshur to marvel at the Red and Bent Pyramids, true wonders of the ancient world. Accommodation remains in the Giza area, at the Pyramid Park Hotel or similar.
Day 4 | Meidum Pyramid and Hermopolis
Driving through the desert, we reach the Meidum Pyramid, a lesser-known but monumental third-dynasty pyramid, followed by a visit to the beautifully painted Middle Kingdom tombs at Beni Hasan. Our journey continues to Hermopolis, the city dedicated to Hermes, the god of magic. These less-traveled sites offer serene moments for meditation. Overnight at the Grand Aton Hotel in Minya.
Day 5 | Al Amarna and Abydos
The day begins in Al Amarna, Akhenaten’s capital and a cradle of monotheism, featuring unique art from the era. We’ll then travel to Abydos, one of Egypt’s most sacred sites, associated with Osiris and home to the Temple of Seti I. Overnight at the House of Life in Abydos.
Day 6 | Dendera Temple and Luxor
Starting at the Dendera Temple, home to the famous Dendera Zodiac and a center of goddess worship, we proceed to Luxor to explore its significant temples and their connections to the human body, as studied by Lovitz. Overnight at the Steigenberger Nile Palace Hotel in Luxor or similar.
Day 7 | Karnak and Luxor Temples
Dedicated to Luxor’s east bank, we visit the Karnak Temple complex, the pinnacle of worship for Amun, Sekhmet, and other deities, including the Great Hall of Columns. The afternoon features the Luxor Museum and Luxor Temple, concluding with a Faluka sail to Banana Island. Overnight at the Steigenberger Nile Palace Hotel.
Day 8 | West Bank Mortuary Temples
Exploring Luxor’s west bank, we’ll see the Colossi of Memnon, Medinet Habu, the workers’ village at Deir el-Medina, and the Valleys of the Queens and Nobles, including Queen Hatshepsut’s Temple. Overnight at the Steigenberger Nile Palace Hotel.
Day 9 | Valley of the Kings and Return to Cairo
We’ll explore the Valley of the Kings, uncovering less-visited sites on the West Bank. After a day of reflection and trip closure in Pharaonic Egypt, we’ll enjoy an early dinner in Luxor before flying back to Cairo for our final night’s stay.
