Goddess of the Balkan Tour

In the 1970s and 1980s, archaeologist Maria Gimbutas and her colleagues unearthed remnants of an advanced matriarchal civilization along the Danube Basin in Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania, and other parts of the Balkans. This civilization was characterized by a peaceful society, guided by priestesses who dedicated themselves to crafts, trade, the production of goods, music, dance, and the celebration of sexuality. They fostered a deep connection with the energies of Mother Nature and the land, embodying a harmonious way of life.

On this unique tour, we invite you to visit these remarkable sites and rediscover the astonishing narrative of the Goddess civilization at the dawn of history. This tour is designed specifically for private groups of six or more individuals. For further details and to embark on this journey into the heart of ancient matriarchy, please contact us.

Description

On this distinctive journey, we’ll uncover the remnants of ancient settlements and sacred sites dedicated to the Goddess, found in the fertile valleys along the Danube and within the Balkan Mountains. Our exploration will take us through the Iron Gates Canyon, hailed as the river’s most stunning segment, where it winds for 100 kilometers between the Carpathian and Balkan Mountains, crafting a majestic, forest-clad canyon.

We’ll venture into the picturesque valleys of southern Serbia, visit megalithic sites, and immerse ourselves in the unspoiled beauty of the Balkan Mountains. The itinerary includes monasteries and medieval fortresses, alongside contemporary Serbian and Bulgarian villages and towns. A highlight of our tour will be visiting key prehistoric Goddess culture sites in Europe, if not the world, such as Magura Cave, the Lepenski Vir site from 11,000 years ago, the Vinča Settlement from 8,000 years ago, and more.
