Description
4-Day Galilee Hiking Itinerary:
Crossing the Galilee from the Mediterranean Coast to the Sea of Galilee
Day 1:
Our journey begins in the Segev Forest, near Yavor Junction. Here, we’ll explore Rosh Zait, an ancient Israeli settlement dating back to King Solomon’s era, approximately 3000 years ago. Our trek through the forest and new Israeli settlements of Misgav leads us to the picturesque Arab village of Khaukab. Time permitting, we’ll explore additional local sites. Our day ends near Yodfat, the site of a fierce battle led by Josephus Flavius against the Romans, with accommodation in one of the surrounding villages, be it Jewish or Arab.
Day 2:
From Yodfat, we traverse stunning landscapes toward the village of Araba, transitioning from its ancient Jewish roots to its current Arab identity. Our journey continues to Deir Hanna, where we’ll explore a forgotten fortress, the village mosque and church, and meet local craftsmen. An encounter with a local palm reader may even reveal our futures. The night will be spent in one of the local villages.

Day 3:
Departing Deir Hanna, we’ll walk through ancient olive orchards towards the Sea of Galilee, with our first stop at Eilabun, a charming Christian village at the edge of the Netofa Valley. The trek then leads us to the Arbel Valley, where we’ll discover the Druze sect’s most sacred site and nearby, an ancient Jewish synagogue and village, alongside a few modern Jewish settlements. Overnight accommodation will be in the vicinity.
Day 4:
Our final day introduces us to the majestic Arbel Cliffs, overlooking the Sea of Galilee, a historic Jewish stronghold against Roman forces. We’ll descend these cliffs to reach the village of Migdal, the home of Mary Magdalene. A short walk brings us to the Sea of Galilee’s shores, where our transformative four-day hike concludes.
